Since opening my store I have had many people ask me about different styles of scarves, and how to make the "hood" for Turkish style scarves. Me, I'm the worse person to ask, I pretty much know two styles and that's it! My sister the make up artist has been asked make up tips countless times, so we decided to hold a free event at Sorayya Design and created Tea & Tutorials.
Twas a beauty of a day, sun shining, birds a'singing when all the lovely ladies, donned in their Sunday best and with scrummy food in hand turned up. MashAllah there were some beauties! We all sat and listened while the ever lovely Emel Cay, the resident scarf stylist showed us a few styles on our beautiful model Maryum. Some of the styles were so interesting to watch, you sit there and think, how the hickety heck did they come up with that???? Then my stunning sister Seyma from Hijab Revival showed us some really useful make up tips on the bare faced beauty Sera. I promise I'm not biased but my sister MashAllah, with no formal training, does the most beautiful make up, shes such a natural. Simple but very affective make up, none of the over done, tacky shiny faced make up Ive seen.
The exciting part for me was when the photographer from one of our local papers The Star showed up, I thought he would be taking pics of the tutorials but said no they want a profile of you....first thing that popped in me head was NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, I hate photos of me I'm so NOT photogenic. I come out awful :( Out of maybe 10 pics Ill like one. He took so many I was so embarrassed! He did however decide to take some of the girls attending so I'm really hoping they end up using one of those pics instead!
We finished off by eating all the delish food, socialising and ended with some lovely warm tea. Alhamdulillah I really enjoyed myself and inshAllah so did everyone else. We are definitely going to be planning more events, maybe a styling session, high tea, fashion parade....ohhh the options are endless!!

ReplyDeleteWell done Ebs, looks like it was a big hit. Gonna suggest it to one of the ladies here who has a clothing store. I especially love the idea of a hijab tutorial, i'm so not innovative when it comes to trying different styles but at the same time, would love to have a different look from time to time.
